Tuesday-In the City

When I think of Toronto and our attempt to somehow reach out to people with God's love, I think of the song by Kutless: "I see the city lights all around me/everyone's obscure/ ten million people each with their problems/why should anyone care." We were compelled to care for people because Jesus was compelled to care for us. The way that we did this was by going to the University of Toronto on a Tuesday afternoon and try to gauge the spiritual interest that the university students had by going through some surveys and starting conversations with them. Tim Hortons coffee coupons were used to help encourage people to pause for a few minutes. Some of their answers seemed spiritually colder towards Christianity than the blustery cold wind we felt that day; yet, many of their answers revealed an honest searching for something more than what they already know. At the very least, they were forced to think about it. Will we ever see any change in some of the students? Probably not. We have to leave that with God; all He wanted us to do was to show love and compassion on people He placed in front of us just as He showed us love and compassion. Please pray for Toronto. -Jonathon Clay <><
